How To Use Video Scribing For Video Marketing

Video scribing is a effective technique for creating more engaging and memorable videos.

The major advantages are,

  • Video scribing keeps the viewer attention throughout the video. In fact studies have shown that for these types of videos, the user attention is longer
  • It clearly shows the transition and has a logical flow

For example, what do you think about the following video?

Pretty cool huh? Wouldn’t you like to create a similar video yourself?

How to create a digital video scribing effect

I came across an “improvised” way to create such videos using a electronic white board technique. Watch the video below for step by step guidance.

What you need,
1. A digital tablet
I can recommend the Wacom Bamboo Splash Pen Tablet
(at this time of writing this post – price around $65)

2. Video editing software
Camtasia doesn’t require any technical skills and it’s easy to learn. Check out Camtasia for Mac or TechSmith Camtasia Studio Version 7

From my own experience, I can say that doing this the first time is a bit difficult. When creating the second video though, it became much easier and the time it took to create the video scribing video was also about half!

So far I’ve created about 4 videos of this nature and I plan to create more! It’s easy once you get the hang of it. The trick is to create many videos. You might not want to upload all of those. But the more you create, the better you will become of creating video scribing videos.

4 ways to use video scribing for video marketing

1. Create a good brand story
How did the business get started ? How did you become who you are?
Why should customers buy from you?

2. Highlight a problem that your product solves
Various studies have proven that if a video can “prove” that it solves a particular problem a customer has, the likelihood of the viewer buying the product is higher than just creating a normal video.

Using video scribing to illustrate the problem is a good way to make the people aware of the problem.

3. Introduce your product or service
Come up with a storyboard for your product. How can you convey your product or service using the video scribing technique?
Jot down a few ideas on paper first and see how it fits with the overall video marketing campaign.

4. Create educational illustrations that are applicable for your target audience/customer
How can you educated your target audience about your niche? What information would they find value in?

By creating education videos, it positions you as a credible, authoritative source. In the long run this will help increase sales for your product.
